Church & Church Lumber Company, LLC is looking to hire a full-time Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Repair and maintenance of heavy equipment, diesel equipment, including (but not limited to) commercial trucks, trailers, loaders, grading equipment and forklifts
- Rebuild- motors, cylinders, etc.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems, including (but not limited to) mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components
- Provide direction and assistance to other mechanics in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment
- Manage inventory of parts, keeping the appropriate documentation of parts on hand
- Maintain a program of preventative maintenance
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and rebuild diesel engines.
- Extensive knowledge in hydraulic and electrical repairs/maintenance
- Welding and fabrication skills are a plus
- Ability to direct and assist other mechanics
- Experience with Caterpillar, Peterbilt, Hyster, and Volvo equipment is a plus

- Responsible for the strategic plan of his area.
- Analyze problems to see how specialized machinery works more efficiently.
- Supervise the maintenance schedule according to the manufacturer's regulations.
- Design or redesign devices, from specialized machinery, truckload computers, or mechanical and thermal subsystems, using computer-aided design and analysis.
- Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend solutions.
- Develop and test prototypes of devices they design.
- Analyze test results and change design or system as needed.
- Supervise the process where machines with motors or controlled by computers intervene to seek its efficiency and improve its performance.
- Discuss the changes with co-workers, supervisors in the design of a process where machines are
involved. - Supervise the personnel who manage or control machines, who follow the processes to have the greatest efficiency of the equipment to deliver quality products.
Degree and experience required:
Engineer possession of (a) theoretical knowledge of engineering, and the ability to solve practical problems in this discipline and apply principles of this discipline to basic and applied research. Mechanical engineers research, design, develop, build, and test mechanical and thermal sensors and devices, including tools, engines, and machines.
The requirement is to have an engineering degree and have experience in a field of specialty related with engineering.
Job Description:
Church and Church Lumber is seeking an experienced and motivated Head Sawyer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating a circular saw and a strong mechanical aptitude. This role is critical in maintaining the efficiency, quality, and safety of our lumber production operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the head rig, log carriage, and conveyor system to saw logs into cants and boards.
- Use Optimizer systems to determine optimal cutting solutionsSupervise the maintenance schedule according to the manufacturer's regulations.
- Operate infeed deck and mechanical log turner for precise positioning and processing.
- Scan and analyze logs to determine best cutting approach.
- Assist with changing saws and perform routine oiling and maintenance on critical components.
- Troubleshoot issues and conduct inspections during startups, shutdowns, and ongoing operations.
- Communicate effectively with Debarker, Gang, and Resaw operators.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Respond promptly to alarms, equipment sounds, and other operational signals.
- Maintain high production quality and efficiency standards.
- Proficiently grade saw Hardwood lumber.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Head Sawyer, preferably with circular saw operations.
- Strong mechanical skills and ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
- Self-motivated, responsible, and capable of working independently.
- Committed to maintaining high safety and quality standards.
- Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment.
